PRIDE Experience Award Frequently Asked Questions
How does the PRIDE Experience Award Program work?
- Nominators use the nomination platform, which is open year-round, to recognize their colleagues who go above and beyond.
- Once a nomination is submitted, the nomination is automatically transmitted to the nominator, nominee and the the nominee's supervisor provided on the nomination form.
- A nomination will remain eligible for consideration for up to 4 quarterly awarding cycles. However, if the nominee is not selected as a winner within 365 days following their nomination, that nomination will expire.
- To be included in the next voting ballot, nominations must be received by the end of the current calendar quarter. After the calendar quarter closes, the ballots are prepared, and the voting cycle begins.
- The selection committee then has 5 business days to review the nominations and submit their votes within each category. After the voting period closes, the winners are determined and sent to Human Resources for vetting to verify their eligibility.
- After HR confirms the winners, we initiate the winner notification process. The respective senior leader within the winner's hierarchy will directly call the winners to inform them that they won.
- Following the winner notification, the Health Recognition Team begins the extensive process of gathering each winner's information/details in preparation for the announcements and in-person awards presentation, typically 6-8 weeks following the quarter close.
Who is eligible for an individual PRIDE Experience Award?
All UCSF Health employees, including Saint Francis and St. Mary's, and BCH (SF & Oakland) are eligible for a PRIDE Experience Award. Employees must be past their initial new-hire probationary period and are subject to review by Labor & Employee Relations through Human Resources before being selected as winners.
Who is eligible for a PRIDE Experience Team Recognition?
Teams, units, or departments within UCSF Health are eligible that are comprised of a minimum of three employees and have at least half of the team members affiliated with either or all of the following: UCSF Health (including those at Saint Francis and St. Mary's), and BCH SF, BCH Oakland. Teams may be cross-functional.
How do I know if the nominee I want to submit is a UCSF Health (or UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals) employee?
Please refer to either of these links to search the employee – both require MyAccess login: UCSF Health Roster or the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland Roster.
Can I nominate my own team for a Team Recognition?
You may nominate your own team. However, the submitter/nominator cannot be the same person listed as the "Nominee/POC" - and please make sure to list the supervisor for your team or manager the nominee/POC rolls up to.
Can you be nominated multiple times in one year?
Yes, each successive nomination within one calendar year for a nominee will be read during the voting periods. If a nominee wins, successive nominations received will remain on hold until four quarters after their recent win.
Does the amount of nominations affect voting/chances of winning?
The amount of nominations received per nominee can reflect positively on the nominee during voting, as more support is shown as why this individual or team is deserving.
What is the deadline for nominations?
Nominations are open 24/7 for the entire year. To be eligible for the upcoming voting period, nominations must be submitted by midnight on the last day of the current quarter (Q1: March 31, Q2: June 30, Q3: September 30, Q4: December 31). If you have questions, please email [email protected].
What if I accidentally submit my nomination without completing it?
Please contact the Health Recognition Team at [email protected].
What if the online form isn’t working?

What if I (or my colleagues) don’t have access to a computer - is there another way to submit a nomination?
